Talked with two relatives married over forty years after I posted my first comment yesterday 03/21/09. One relative stated it is no longer ” I” or “you”, but “we” when you commit to a relationship ordained by God. He also said you have to ask God to send you someone. My relative also stated that the relationship is a commitment under God with no option of divorce (and you are both aware of this before the marriage ceremony).

I believe that God designed a specific mate for Adam, and with about half of the marriages ending in divorce, maybe we should go to God prayerfully and ask Him to order our steps in this matter. I do believe that God placed Mary in Joseph’s life and that be placed Ruth in Boaz’s life. It is fascinating to look at the geneology and descendants of Jesus. How can we not say that God isn’t intimately involved with the decisions of His adopted sons and daughters through Christ,
And I have learned to seek God’s direction and it is phenominal what He has worked out in my life. Is anything too hard for Him? Do we limit God in this areaf our lives because the enemy has told us that we are smart enough to handle this issue all by ourselves. If God knew me before I was created He has a perfect plan for me if I am part of His family in every area of my life because of what Christ did for me on the cross. Wouldn’t the concept of marriage be revolutioned if we believed that God is who He says He is. Maybe our faith limits our thinking in the area mate
selection and an unwilingness to apply God’s principles compounds the failures in relationshipswe see today. I seek God’s help so I will develop the spritual maturity that I need to be a good marriage partner.

loved your show but this is what i have been taught that a man findeth a wife and that we as women ought to wait to be found and in the meantime be busy doing the the work of God.We are not to be trying to find a man but let him do it.I would like to hear your insight on this.

and to add on what i was saying before. you should’nt bo looking or searching for your soulmate cause when it all comes down to it god will bring it to your attention and you will know when you’ve meet him or her.

i feel that god already has the person that your suppose to be with picked for you. i dont think that god will put you with someone who you dont like at all or have no interest in. Sometimes people tend to get thier lifetime people mixed up wit thier seasonal people. you just have to wait on god and that time you spend by yourself is that time when you need to be working on you.

I can relate…after two marriages, there is no such thing as a soul-mate. The only soul Mate is Jesus Christ, and when we receive Him, and His Word, that is true joy and happiness. Nothing tops Jesus, what a Love so sweet. I have been single for more than 12 years, by choice, up to now. I should be meeting my husband, any minute now. I am no so picky, ha, ha! not anymore.

Yes, I was suckered into the myth, with all the romance novels of the centuries, etc. When Jesus saved my soul and filled me with His Holy Spirit, everything else fails in His Light.

Thank God for Mark Gunger and His revelation, and most of all his humor, given to him by the Holy Spirit of God.

I am so grateful to the Lord for such truth, and happy to know that, the truth does set us free. Amen

loved this episode. I sometimes wonder if gods creates our spouse uniquely for us so as to kill our pride. just a thought. I know you say that god is not out to make us happy by creating one person uniquely for us but he is out to kill our pride. Maybe God designed that one person to be that tool.

I totally agree with you there is no one set person created specifically to make us happy. That would be believing if for any reason something would prevent us from being with that person that our whole lives would be ruined. The scriptures only talk about intermarriage that is not marrying people of other faith and beliefs. Besides we serve a wonderful God that has given us laws to follow like those of the fruit of the spirit as tools to live victoriously! Love is not easy but it conquers it all…

Hi, I was just watching this “soulmate” episode, and I think you have it right, based on how weary people become in “searching” for a soul mate, but I do believe that for some of us there is not a person who is best for US, can please US, and make OUR lives good, but someone who we are best compatible with to worship and praise God from the same level and maturity in faith. Jeremiah 29:11 says “I alone know the plans that I have for you, plans to bring about prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.” God DOES have a plan for all of us, some involving a spouse and some not. But within His plan He has aligned for us the person he wants us to be with, and if we listen to him and are tuned to what He wants, there will not be much searching for us to do. To think that we should just go almost blindly into a marriage without much thought on the matter of “is this who God wants me with?” is probably not what you were trying to say, but I just thought I’d come to your site and post a comment
